Experience the Richness of Desi Ghee

Desi Ghee is a traditional staple in South Asian cooking, renowned for its remarkable flavour and health benefits. Made from the finest quality milk sourced from grass-fed cows, our ghee is churned in small batches using the traditional bilona method.

Its distinct aroma and golden hue are a testament to the meticulous preparation process, ensuring an authentic experience with every jar — whether you're a seasoned chef or an occasional cook.

Why Desi Ghee Is Good For You

Desi ghee is far more than a cooking fat — it's a concentrated source of energy and fat-soluble nutrients that has been part of South Asian diets for thousands of years. Made by slow-simmering butter until the milk solids separate, it retains beneficial compounds like butyric acid and CLA that are mostly lost in regular butter or refined oils. Below is a full breakdown of its nutrition and benefits, along with guidance on how much to use and who should be cautious.

From the Cow to Your Kitchen

No factories, no shortcuts — the same four steps used in Punjabi households for generations. Every jar takes 3–4 days from milking to bottling, with no shortcuts taken at any stage.

Step 01

Milk from Grass-Fed Cows

Fresh milk is hand-collected daily from desi cows on small pasture farms, grazing freely on natural grass with no hormones or feed additives.

Step 02

Hand-Churned into Butter

Milk is first set into curd overnight, then hand-churned the traditional bilona way with a wooden paddle to separate pure makhan (butter) from the buttermilk.

Step 03

Slow-Simmered on Low Heat

The makhan is simmered gently on low flame for hours until the milk solids caramelize and separate — this slow process is what builds ghee's deep golden colour, nutty aroma, and rich flavour.

Step 04

Jarred Fresh & Sealed

Once cooled and filtered, the pure golden ghee is jarred within days of churning and sealed for freshness — never diluted, never blended with vegetable oils.

Why Slow-Churning Matters Mass-produced ghee is often made from cream separated by machine and heated quickly at high temperatures — it's faster, but loses much of the aroma and nutrient value. Our bilona method takes longer and yields less ghee per litre of milk, but it's the same process used in Punjabi homes for generations, and it's the reason our ghee has a distinct nutty aroma and grainy texture (danedar) when it sets.
